Basic Level Part 5

From RoboBlitz Editor Wiki

The Side Hallways

Copy and paste the door from the starter room and move it into position for the right and left hallways on the sides of the largest room. Move them into position with your snapping grid set to 16 just like in the picture below. Scale the door to 1.000 0.4816 0.5082 0.4575 if it does not fit. If you have made your room properly you should not have to do any scaling at all.

Ok you are now going to click on the Browser Window and then click File->Open in the Browser Window. Then you will select all of the packages and load them into the browser just like when you were applying the materials in the previous section. Make sure you load in the last file you used for your level when applying materials also.

Now we are going to lay down some static meshes. Check the Static Mesh checkbox in the Browser Window and then select the Blast Door 3 static mesh. Now right click on the floor of the level and select Add Actor->Add Static Mesh: Static Mesh PROP_Hub.Doors.BlastDoor3 from the menu. A Static Mesh of a doorway will no appear in your level but its to big.

Make sure you coordinate system is set to World and not Local, there is a red circle next to it in the image below at the top of the image. Now make sure your units are set to 4 like in the image bellow in the bottom right circled in red. The units allow for snapping in blocks of 4 units at a time which will be perfect for us to get our static meshes lined up exactly with the door frame.

Set the Scale to 1.0 0.8000 0.2000 0.7800 with the doorway select like in the image below. If the Door way is too small this is due to the fact that your hallway was made the wrong size in an earlier tutorial. If this is the case you can scale the doorway to the right size using the transform manipulators in the image below at the top of the image circled in red. To the right of the scale tool is the non-uniform scale tool this allows for you scale the door way different proportions. The transform manipulators will allow you to position, scale, and rotate your static meshes. Uses the top view to properly place the static mesh like in the image below in the top window in the image.

Align the door frame so that when you pull the door up with the move tool it can not be seen from either side of the door frame popping through the wall.
